Introduction:
Today was the first class of Principal of Organization. With the
subject I was expecting that it will be full of theory, boring fundas and lots
of B-School Gyaan. But to my surprise as soon as our Professor entered the
class and the way he started, my perception had totally changed. The whole
lecture was very interacting in itself. He introduces himself as Dr. Mandi
proving how proud he is by associating himself to Maha Mandi event in NITIE.
For which he is one of the founder member.
He showed the Video of Pink Floyd that tells the current
system of education in country like India. By seeing that I realized that in
some or the other way I have become a part of that system. I learnt lots of
stuff during my school days and engineering course but when it comes to the
actual implementation of those, I rarely have used them
in my life. I realized any knowledge without the practical exposure is a
complete waste.
Socho Becho, Becho
Seekho, Seekho Becho:
The priceless Gyan given by him “Socho Becho, Becho Seekho,
Seekho Becho” is something that I cannot forget in my whole life.
This statement containing just six words has in itself the whole marketing
concept of the industry. I understand that before selling anything we have to
think and realize what its importance and exact usefulness is. The uniqueness
of Dr Mandi is that he not only tells the concept but also shows by the
examples and perfect demonstration. He showed as the structure made up of the
pipes which look like the normal showpiece. I thought it to be some kind of toy
and then I realize we cannot sell it just by calling it a toy. If I have to
sell this I have to prove its actual use and worthiness. On the same lines I
realize if I have to become a successful manager, firstly I have to think and
have to figure out my uniqueness, qualities and short comings and then I have
to work on those to improve myself further. I worked for Samsung for close to
3.5 years. I realized one of the reasons for Samsung leading the market in most
of the segment like Mobile, TV, chips etc is that they are giving lots of
importance on RND and they are making the product for the future demand of the
people. Lots of research is behind this.
The Maha Mandi:
Dr Mandi showed us the coverage of UTV for Maha Mandi event. Video
showing all 350 students of the batch coming onto the street and using their
knowledge, selling the products made by NGO to the people. This incidence gave
me immense confidence that I am going to be associated with NITIE and will be
part of the many such events in the coming few days. I saw in the video how
initially students struggle to sell the toys and finally when they learned the
techniques within few more hours they completely sold their all their stuffs.
By this incidence I remember how I used to struggle when I joining Samsung as
the software engineer. I was not at all aware of the technology and the
corporate environment. It was the totally new experience for me at that time. I
used to spend lots of hours in the office understanding various and getting
used to all the stuffs. And in few months I realized that I have expertise on
the technology I was working on.
Tower Game:

Dr Mandi asked us to play the game of building
tower. He asked us to bid to enter the game, but only 3 people participated in
the bid. I was not happy with myself as I didn’t participated, I realized that
in the actual business world people are supposed to take some risk and should
have confidence in themselves in participating in any deal or events. The game
was the perfect example of any organization, having 3 people one required to actually
build the block, other who was acting like a supervisor giving the necessary
directions and information and the last one acting like a Higher Management
whose job is to observe from outside and take decisions only when required. In
my organization also actual implementation of the software is done by the
engineer only. No doubt it looks difficult at first go but with the team leader
guiding at each and every point the things become simple. The job of the Team
leader is to give direction and to solve the queries of the engineer whenever
required. Senior Management comes into picture at some time intervals when they
review the product and gave their valuable inputs. I have
experienced if all these three people do their roles as per their expectation then
it will result in good quality product.
Summary:
Overall the lecture was
very interacting, informative and exciting. I learned lots of actual
organization concepts by seeing the practical example. I will be looking forward
for more such sessions.
